Let's break this down in order of overall rank.
Bear in mind that these rankings are often relative. For example rank 1 in price doesn’t mean it is the least expensive, but rather, the best value all other factors considered. The weight of these factors and overall score might differ consumer to consumer. I.E. Consumer 1 might value grip durability over all else, whereas Consumer 2 might value fit and price over all else.
1. SL PRO - $20/pair
What a surprise, Sunday League has their own socks ranked first, right?
Okay hear us out. The SL PRO features 4 custom sock fits and grip designs for all adult sizes for a truly catered fit, where most other brands offer 1 to 3 size options. The SL PRO features a nylon, cotton, spandex blend that provides ventilation and moisture wicking qualities along with a cushioned bottom for comfort. The special silicone blend offers a very strong connection with great durability. With a modest $20 price point (The second lowest) these socks provide high quality materials without damaging your pockets.
2. TruSox 3.0 - $50/Pair
TruSox are in many regards the gold standard for grip socks. So why aren’t they first overall? These grip socks feature a patented internal grip technology, 4 sizes ensuring a good fit, with cushioned or standard options. However, it is tough to look past the $50/ pair pricing.
3. Nike Grip Strike - $28/Pair
Available in 3 sizes, the Nike Grip Strike features NikeGRIP which is a grip yarn woven into the fabric of the sock. This does help with performance similar to heat transferred grips, however, they can affect the fit of the sock over time. The more use and wash you put the socks under, the tighter they get, requiring frequent replacement. They do however perform well, and are fairly modest in price.
4. Apex PRO 3.0 - $40/pair
The Apex PRO 3.0 bears many similarities to TruSox 3.0. These socks feature a cushioned fit, with a comfortable breathable material. They offer a heat bonded synthetic suede grip material that provides a comfortable low profile fit. Why aren’t these socks aren’t listed higher? Price, and fit. They only have one size for all foot sizes and types, along with a $40 price point.
5. Gain the Edge - $15/pair
GTE features 3 sizes however they provide no sizing guide to ensure proper selection. They feature a wide range of color options to match virtually any kit. These models are very affordable which is great especially if you are testing the waters of the grip socks world, but in our opinion you pay for what you get. Slightly less comfortable/durable materials.
6. Vypr SUREGRIP -$45/pair
Trusted by a range of professional athletes, the Vypr SUREGRIP does a great job of blister and injury prevention. These socks feature DriRelease technology which is moisture wicking and quite comfortable, accompanied by a cushioned sole. The only downside to these socks are the price and sizing options. They only feature 2 sizes, so the fit isn’t always truly catered, and feature a $45 price point.
7. Tape Design - $32/pair
Although last on our list, Tape Design is certainly still a viable option. They bear many similarities to Vypr SUREGRIP but with a few notable differences. They only offer one size, similar to Apex PRO 3.0, which means you will often get a loose fit. When the foot moves around within the sock, it renders the function of the grips useless. That said these can still be a great option if you fall within the sweet spot of foot sizes. $32 per pair is a relatively median price in the grip socks ecosystem.
Conclusion
